City Utilities is set to replace water main lines and other facilities in the Forest Park neighborhood. The project will provide over 15,000 feet of NEW high-density polyethylene pipes to the residents in the area. Fire hydrants and valves are also set to be replaced. Lead service replacements will occur to residents who have opted into the program.
This project is a component of Fort Wayne’s master plan to improve the city’s water delivery system and to reduce future service disruptions.
Residents in the area will experience disruption and should stay updated on traffic patterns in the area during the time of construction.

What is a high-density polyethylene pipe (HDPE)?
An HDPE pipe is a more flexible and durable pipe often used to replace aging water main lines. It’s made of strong molecular bonds suitable for high-pressure pipelines. The existing pipe in the Forest Park neighborhood is a cast iron main which is susceptible to corrosion and breaks.
