Project Overview
Construction crews are working on a water main extension and replacement along North Anthony Boulevard between Lake Avenue and Vance Avenue. This project is expected to last until September 2025.
What does this project entail?
Crews will work to replace the existing cast iron main with new high density polyethylene pipes. The current iron main is susceptible to corrosion and breaks, where as the new pipe will be durable, flexible and able to hold up in harsh weather conditions. Following the replacement, crews will resurface any sidewalks or streets they worked on. Outdated hydrants and other water infrastructure will also be updated in the process.
Water main replacements are crucial in order to ensure a smooth water delivery system to our customers. There are 21 water main breaks on record for this project area.
Lead Service Replacement Program
Remove lead water lines from your property. While crews are replacing water main pipes, residents can opt-in to the lead replacement program so contractors can reach out and schedule a replacement for your lead line if found. Fort Wayne residents will be required to have their lead line replaced regardless. Get ahead of the federal mandate at a lower cost.
