The City of Fort Wayne offers multiple health insurance premiums, customizable to fit your needs – including dental and vision.  We provide between 50% and 100% in coverage for services and programs depending on which plan you choose.

We provide eligible employees with Life & Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance at no cost to you. Life/AD&D and Dependent Life insurance benefits are provided through Symetra Life Insurance..

Long-Term & Short-Term Disability benefits provide a source of income should an illness interfere with your ability to work. We provide Long-Term & Short-Term Disability to ALL eligible employees at no cost to you.

All eligible employees are provided 457 Retirement Plans that best fit their needs. In addition, the City also offers Public Employees’ Retirement Fund (PERF). 

All employees enrolled in the City’s Health Plan receive annual wellness benefits which include routine screen tests, gym club reimbursements, exercise trainers, and weight loss programs.

Personal: Regular full-time and part-time employees are granted personal hours based on FLSA employment schedules.

Sick: Regular full-time and part-time employees are granted their respected hours of sick time on January 1 of each year.

Holiday: Regular full-time and part-time employees shall be paid based on the number of hours they would normally work for each federal holiday city offices are closed.

Vacation: Regular full-time and part-time employees are eligible to use accrued vacation after 6 months of continuous services. Unused vacation shall automatically be carried over into the next year.

The city provides paid parental leave to parents to bond with their new child, adjust to their new family situation, and balance their professional obligations. Parental leave is eligible to any employee who is the birth mother, biological father, adoptive mother or adoptive father.

The city provides eligible employees up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave for certain family and medical reasons.

Eligible employees and their households are offered Employee Assistance Programs through Parkview Health Network. Individuals are offered free services to use. Sessions are confidential and are provided by a licensed Parkview counselor. Individuals and couples can meet to discuss a variety of concerns including: crisis intervention, grief and loss, family and marital stress, and alcohol and substance abuse.

The city provides eligible employees up to ten (10) days of unpaid leave per year. The Military Family Leave Act supplements the federal Uniformed Services Rights and Reemployments Rights Act.
