Pierson Drain Improvements

Page last updated September 3, 2026

The Pierson Drain Improvement projects aim to alleviate flooding from Lake Avenue’s Pierson Drain through Lakeside Golf Course. These new improvements include new water main installations along Reed Road, from Antigua Drive to Old Maysville Road, and a new water main location along Lake Avenue at the Pierson Drain.

Improvements to the Pierson Drain will also take place from Lake Ave. to the former Lakeside Golf Course, with a new sanitary sewer installation from Lake Ave. to Old Maysville Rd.

These improvements are part of a large-scale, multi-phase flood plan improvement project along the Pierson Drain. Designs for a native wetland bank will be modified in the Lakeside Golf Course space, which will help improve stormwater quality and connectivity to the Maumee River Watershed.

Update as of September 1, 2026: The Pierson Drain Improvement project is in it’s fourth phase. City Utilities is now opening discussion with residents for design feedback regarding a 30-acre wetland bank at the former Lakeside Golf Course, east of Coliseum Boulevard, adjacent to the Maumee River. This project will also include a re-routing of the existing River Greenway Trail segment from Reed Road to Coliseum Boulevard.
