New Development Pays for Development
Google Funds Tower, Main – Benefits All

It is a long-standing practice of City Utilities that development pays for development. That’s 100 percent the case with all the water and sewer projects that will connect the Google facility to our system.
Private developers routinely pay for and construct the public water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure needed to connect their project to our systems. Once completed, that infrastructure is inspected, accepted, and owned by City Utilities, becoming part of the public system that serves the community.
30-Inch Water Transmission Main
The project includes construction of approximately 22,000 feet (about four miles) of 30-inch water transmission main extending service toward the Adams Center Road corridor. The transmission line will strengthen system redundancy, increase water distribution capacity, and include public connection points at four existing locations along the corridor.
This developer-funded transmission main replaces a transmission main City Utilities had already planned to construct, and because Google is funding the project, planned utility dollars can instead be invested in other neighborhood infrastructure needs.
Public Ownership and Oversight
All public water infrastructure constructed as part of this project is funded by Google and will meet Utility design and construction standards and will be inspected throughout construction. Once accepted, the infrastructure will be publicly owned, operated, and maintained by Utility professionals to ensure long-term reliability and safety.
Supporting Long-Term Growth Planning
The project is located within one of three designated growth corridors identified for the next 20 years through a coordinated countywide planning effort approved by county, city, and town governments. All In Allen is a comprehensive plan that outlines areas of future growth, and the Adams Center Road corridor is one of 3 identified as a focus area along with US 30 to the West and Airport Expressway near I69. The infrastructure paid for by this privately funded project will aid the further development of that County-wide plan for growth.
